TMBRA Race #1, The Warda Race, 02/27/11: “I Wanna Rock Right Now!”
Oh yeah, its that time again people. All the deposits have been made (really???) and now its time to start making some withdrawals. The 2011 TMBRA Texas State Championship Series is upon us. Time to get on that line and represent. How bout we go rock some new OMW kits, put the jammin cooler on 11, and collect some hardware?!! Race #1 is at Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda, Texas. Welcome back old friend! We got Tom and Shannon heading out from Toms home base out thru Giddings and we goti Dan, Lance, and Jeff in the green manalishi heading east on 71 thru Bastrop to La Grange. Deanne is staying with “Ready” Rob Remlinger and his lovely wife Janet in Smithville Texas for the weekend. Rob is racing Cat 2 Singlespeed on Sunday. Did I mention that this will be Jeff and Deannes first MTB race ever? I think we told them that Cat 3′s only have to do one lap. Oops, except Warda (and Coldspring but they dont know this yet, Oops again!)
We hit the road out of Austin about noon Saturday so we can get a lil preride in to reacquaint our selves with the ever fast trails. Loaded for bear, east bound and rolling. Tall doggs iced up and falling. We get to Warda by early afternoon and pull into the ranch. How about we TELL you where we are gonna park n camp? We got a spot, you see, right off the trails where you can see all the action. WE GOT OUR OWN ZIP CODE!! Tom and Shannon are not far behind us. Team area is set. Race plates picked up. Time to preride the 7 mile course. Oh we re gonna do that lap multiple times yo!! Deannes on the ranch and checking the course herself. Jeff was gonna ride it first then register to race but guess he got excited cause he done did it. He just registered and will work it all out on Sunday. A lil bit overcast on Saturday but we surely enjoy our ride thru the pines and up and down the ranch bluff on the back side of the course. I think we got this. Lets celebrate!! No sooner have we gotten comfortable at the camp site than we get the word ole Josh “Moments notice” Bailey is on his way. Make that 8 on the line for OMW Racing on Sunday!
So thats 8 OMW racers on the line to start the season. We are covering all the Cat’s and all the age groups. We got OMW in front of the crowd all day and then some!! Then theres Shannons time on the line. I mean on the line itself. Who knew catching another rider at the line after a good race and giving them some love would send you “superman style” across the line and down on the deck!! Wait!, does the bike have to cross too?? better drag it across and get all the leaves out of your shorts Channo, pick up a few points WYB!!
All and all it was a great weekend of racing our bikes all over the great state of Texas!! Is 3 in the top 10 any good?? Hells yes it is!! Tom kills it and gets 7th, Deanne leaves a mark on her first race with 7th, and RFob brings home 10th. Dan and Lance pulling down 11th place each. Josh finishes in 21st place, Shannon in 29th place, and Jeff finishes his first forey into multi-lkap racing with 42nd and that was not last!!
We have a good start to the season and things will only get better at Race #2 in Comfort, Texas. Oh we know Comfort, It will rip your legs off!! Too bad it not the Omnium this year. OMW loves the Omnium, and the Omnium Loves OMW!! Looks like we may have a new straggler as who may join us out at Flat Rock Ranch in Comfort Texas. Hope to see you all out there March 12-13th, 2011.
OMW Bitches!
