GHORBA Big Ring Challenge
Saturday, 10:30am. Waiting outside Dan’s house. His neighbor comes over and asks, “Is Dan even up yet!?”
Oh great, is this the kinda day it’s gonna be?
After packing up and heading out (and after paying homage to Dan’s wife for finishing mowing the lawn before Dan even finished wiping his eye boogers) we hit the ground running. Now, which way to take to Cold Spring? Well, backroads of course. One should ALWAYS choose backroads when feasible. It’s just good philositude.
So, backroads it is. Where’s the map w/ the backroads? Uh, Oh! We got a maps, but they all leave much to be desired.
Well, I’m in the back seat not knowing exactly where Cold Spring is or how to get there. What the heck, I guess it’s time for that Extra-tall dog (24 fl oz of Quickie Mart elixir- it’ll cure what ails you)… Now, the only things that I do know are:
-we have a tank full of gas
-we have a cooler full of tall dogs. (okay, two coolers- we are traveling w/ Dan, you know)
-we are NOT stopping to ask directions
Why would we? we have everything needed to enjoy a nice drive thru the VAST National Forests within the S.M.R.C.F. (Southernmost Region of Coniferous Forest) in N. America.
So we may not know exactly where we’re going, but we know we’re gonna get there in a hurry- what with ol’ Leadfoot Lance at the helm. I think we had most of the Rangers in the Park on the look out for a Green blur that resembled a Tahoe w/ three bikes strapped to the back… Well, two bikes and green and purple thing w/ two wheels anyway…
Dan- Are you gonna ride THAT??!!

Well put my friend. I look forward to your comments on The season finale at Eldorado, where OMW racers took the “triple” for the second time this season with 3 in the top 10. BTW- its “the southern most region of coniferous PINES in N. America”.
OMW bitches

if coldspring is called the big ring challenge, el dorado has to be called the big rock challenge.
how in the hell did shannon ride to a season best 3rd place as hung over as he was?
nice job to the whole OMW crew.

hung over? no, young Jedi. as our resident Jedi Master (dan “ONE-MAN” hick-man) will tell you, you’re not hung over, you’ve just reached optimal liquid diet carb loaded capacity. now, just add a couple quarts of water to the equation to sooth that bad case of cotton mouth (okay, so maybe a couple gallons for that MILD dehydration is closer to the truth) and then proceed through the standard OMW pre-race checklist for maximum race day pleasure!! feel free to liven things up a bit and pick out some good theme songs to run through your head and/or share w/ your racing brethren- heck, EVERYBODY likes a little entertainment to break things up on the trail!!
we train like we race, and we race like we train.
TALL DOG anyone? what’s that? you’ve just got one of those cute little 12 ouncers? those things are just like little snacks, as dan would say. well, that’ll do for now- everybody’s gotta start somewhere, I guess. that’s it young Jedi, guzzle it, crumple it and throw it down like you mean it! set the pace early…drink up, it’s never too earlier (or too late) to start training…
OMW, bitches!
