Welcome to the Official OMW Racing Website!

OMW-Racing (aka Outta My Way) is a grassroots Austin, Texas based Mountain Bike Racing team. Our home course is Walnut Creek Park and you can come ride and party with us every Friday afternoon at about 3:00pm-ish. Bring your bike and some cold beer for a TGIF "Get Your Nut On" ride with the party hounds of OMW Racing! (We ride Saturday and Sunday about the same time too).

2010 Operation “Shock and Awe”

2010 Operation “Shock and Awe” is building steam.  The upcoming 2010 race season promises to be another great season of mountain bike racing with several familiar races such as the flat and fast and ever so fan friendly Warda race, the muscle burning twists and turns of  Flat Rock Ranch in Comfort, Tx, the widely popular trails of Rocky Hill Ranch in Smithville (welcome back old friend), and the miles of mudd slop fest that was so much fun in Cold Spring, Tx.   “Wayne, how the hell are you?! You old muther scratcher!”  I am excited to have a couple new races in the Dallas/FT. Worth area,  a local race in the Austin/Lake Travis area by Bicycle Sport Shop, and who doesnt like the opportunity to ride Lance Armstrongs home course in the Mellow Johnny’s Classic , Part Deux bitches!! Sean, Rob, can I get an AMEN?

We are excited to have a full cast of characters, with the usual suspects as already well documented, and a few new racers that are sure to produce highly competitive race results in multiple groups and categories.   Sean “Das boot” Maguire didnt take any time off and stormed the Mellow Johnnys classic, not only did he start but he finished in his first attempt at racing and if you saw the results sheet for that race you know many people didnt finish including Lance Armstrong himself, maybe he flatted and everyone knows he’s fast but cant fix a flat. (Lets not forget “Ready” Rob Remlinger taking 20th place in SS up at Lances place, while youre bullshittin!)  Also new  for 2010 is singlespeeder Tom Stolz, a beast on a SS. Is he hiding gears in there somewhere??? I want to welcome our El Paso cousin, Ryan Cody, back to the OMW fold who will be keeping our interests well represented in the West end of the State and beyond. Didnt he crush the Mas o Menos 100K  in Terlingua with out ever pre-riding the course? Hell Yes!! And last but not least our neophyte racer with wicked skills, Chuck “Deuce” Bunch as he storms the Cat 3 group. Remember Chuck, pink ribbons are protected, no ribbons means fair game. Tell him Bam Bam!

The 2010 Winter Training Camp is presently set for Presidents Day weekend (February 11th-15th ) in the west Texas area of Big Bend.  We are planning training rides and fun rides in Terlingua and Lajitas, and on the Contrabando trail in the state park . As usual we plan to have  good food and good times under the stars in the Chihuahuan desert as well as team building escapades in the surrounding areas. “RV” Jeff Giggliotti is shuttling the crew in the team bus again but will be sticking to the awesome road riding out there while his injuries heal from his last jaunt on the prickly trails by the Lajitas airport.

New race kits have been designed by the one and only “Mr. Stubbs” (aka Kevin Smith), no relation to OMW Godfather “Chef” Brian Stubbs,  and they are totally bad ass!!! We will have his links on the site soon for anyone that needs awesome custom art work.  Thanks again “Mr. Stubbs”!!

The Peddler Bike Shop has signed on again for another race season as well as additional sponsors Nuun Active Hydration, Merrell Shoes, and dznuts.  Is that any good??  We plan to REPRESENT at all the spring races and I believe we will have a highly competitive season.  OMW had 3, top 15 overall racers last year and the new crew looks to build on that trail dominance.

With all that said, OMW BITCHES, we’re coming through!!

Good luck to the entire 2010 OMW race team.  May you all have a safe and eventfull race season.

Dan the Man, OUT!
